The federated data catalog was developed within the WarmWorld Easier project. 
The initial idea was to create a federated data infrastructure that would allow users to search for and access Earth Observation data from different providers.

    The ECMWF joined the initial project as a data provider and granted access to their Fields DataBase (FDB) as part of the data infrastructure.
    Further developments included the integration of zarr interface to access data stored in an FDB without a conversion of the data format.
