Usage Agreement for Access to HPC Resources via Warmworld Easier Data Services

between the service provider Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (FZJ) and the user.

Service Provider

These data access services are provided by the the Earth System Data Exploration (ESDE) group at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) of Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (FZJ), Wilhelm-Johnen-Straße, 52428 Jülich, Germany. The services developed and provided within the WarmWorld project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.

Purpose of the Services

The offered services allow to access earth system data stored at JSC. The extraction and access to different data will require computational resources at JSC. Therefore, the terms of use of the JSC apply.

Registration

In the current development phase, the registration is only possible for project partners within the WarmWorld project. The user must provide a valid email address and agree to the terms of use.

The user agrees:

1. To use the service and the attached resources only for the purposes for which access has been granted.
2. To use the system only for peaceful purposes and not to gain results for military purposes
3. Not to attempt to try to access resources of other users of the service, in case the interface would allow this.
4. Not to enable any third person to access or use the service, nor to provide attendances with the service for them.
5. To report any changes in contact information.
6. The liability of the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) and the suppliers of the various resources for any damage suffered as a result of imperfections of the system shall be limited to intent and gross negligence except for damages arising from injury of life, body or health.
7. That the account and credentials to access the service are personal and not transferable and therefore must be kept secure and confidential.
8. That JSC reserves the right to suspend the service’s access to the system if there are suspicions that the user breaches any of the obligations in this agreement.
9. All papers and publications that are a result of resources used at JSC must contain the acknowledgements available at http://www.fz-juelich.de/ias/jsc/resource-acknowledgements.
10. The usage of datasets might be constraint by additional licenses. The user agrees to comply and respect the licenses of each dataset. He may require to sign additional license agreements under https://esm-data.fz-juelich.de/wweasier/terms-of-use/wweasier/data_licenses/.

The user further gives the following declarations:

I am fully aware that scientific results gained through the use of supercomputers may be liable to European and US export control regulations.

Therefore, I hereby guarantee that I will not use any resources made available to me in an abusive manner, in particular not for research with regards the following topics:

• ABC- (atomic, biological, chemical) weapons
• Missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles
• General reference to weapons, ammunition or armor goods
• Construction or operation of nuclear facilities
• Special goods for the surveillance of communication
• Goods which may be used for the execution of the death penalty, torture and any other cruel, inhumane or humiliating treatment

I will not export any knowledge or technology, which are subject to export-control, in any form (documents, personal communication, presentation, email, internet, cloud computing...).
